Toyota Verso gets updated for 2014
We already knew the Toyota Verso MPV would be getting the option of a BMW diesel engine for 2014, but Toyota have a number of upgrades for the Verso to go along with the new engine. There’s a new trim level on offer – the Verso Trend – that slots in-between the Icon and Excel Versos – which gets a black C-Pillar decal to give the illusion of a floating roof, a bit like the Verso. Other additions for the Trend include a set of five-spoke alloys, front fogs and privacy glass with Toyota Touch 2 with Go adding in SatNav, connected services, Google Street View and TomTom Traffic info, front parking sensors and a rear view camera (part of the Touch 2 Package) to make parking easier.
BMW's head of exterior design Domagoj Dukec has explained how the 4 Series Convertible's design sets it apart from the 3 Series in a new video. Dukec says that aside from the fact the 4 Series Convertible is visibly wider than its predecessor with an increased track and wheelbase, its design is unique. While describing the changes to features such as the kidney grille, headlamps and the lines running down the hood, Dukec also compares it to the coupé.
VW will only build 250 examples of the XL1, its super-streamlined two-seater than scores a combined 314mpg thanks to its plug-in hybrid diesel engine, lightweight construction and low-drag design. Each punter will have to put up around €100,000 for the privilege of saving money on fuel – but don’t worry, because every car across the VW Group will benefit from the lessons learned, all by 2020.
